I am laying loose gravel on my driveway, will I be affected by the new planning laws for driveways and front gardens?
If you are laying gravel, aggregates or slate chippings you will not require planning permission. The new law applies to hard surfaces like paving and tarmac which are non permeable. If you are choosing to lay gravel, slate chippings or aggregates on your driveways or within your landscape you do not require planning permission as they are permeable allowing the rain water to easily drain through with less risk of flooding.
Which size gravel is best for driveways?
Ideally we would recommend anything between 10-20mm anything smaller in size can get stuck in between tyres and anything larger will not form a flat surface. If you are using smaller sized gravel we would recommend you use a gravel paving grid to reinforce and stabilise the loose gravel.
What if I am not there when the product is delivered?
We do recommend someone to be there but if the driver feels they can leave it in a safe and suitable manner they will do so, if not they would need to re-deliver when someone would be available to sign for the delivery. This is an additional £15 per pallet.

Do you screen your topsoil?
Yes we initially screen all our topsoil at 10mm to remove any oversize lumps and large stones. The resultant screened product is a friable soil that contains naturally organic matter and a small amount of grit.

Yes our play sand and play bark are both impact tested to meet BSEN1177 standards.
How long can I leave turf rolled up for?
Ideally you should lay turf as soon as possible after delivered. The turf should not be left for longer than 12 hours as it will begin to turn yellow/brown. If it is not possible to lay the turf we would suggest unrolling it and ensuring that it is regularly watered.
